QR codes are everywhere these days. You find them on the back of your cereal box, on large billboards and even in the logos of companies. But how can they be used in the classrooms to improve students’ engagement?

QR Codes in Education
QR codes are two-dimensional barcodes that can be scanned using smartphones, tablets, laptops or any other QR reading devices. They redirect users to articles, websites, videos, podcasts and other learning resources. The QR technology makes education more engaging and exciting for students. Every educator knows that students love to learn through technology. Many schools have already started incorporating QR codes into their education system. So let's take a look at how QR codes can be used to increase student interactivity and engagement.

When Static QR codes are better than Dynamic ones!
December 10th, 2015 10:41 pm

Dynamic QR codes are great, they have loads of benefits including:
  • QR code scan statistics that tell you how often they are scanned, when they are scanned, the device types your customers are using and in what geo-graphical location they are when they scan them
  • You can change the destination of the QR code, without having to change the code itself; so you can use your printed marketing materials for as long as you like while keeping your shared content current
  • As Dynamic QR codes usually use a “URL Shortener” they need to encode a lot less information, making them simpler, easier to scan and more attractive to your customers
So, I hear you ask ... if Dynamic QR codes are so good, why would you ever use a Static QR code?

Well, unfortunately one of the key enabling features of dynamic QR codes is also its biggest weakness - dynamic QR codes only hold a link to the information you wish to share NOT the information itself. In order for the link to work, the customer..
How QR codes can help drive mobile engagement
November 26th, 2015 8:43 pm

To many people, QR codes are just a quick way to get mobile users to access their website. Yes, this is one important use for QR codes but is only just the beginning!

In order to fully understand how you can use QR codes to engage your mobile customers, let’s go back to basics for a moment...

The primary advantage of a QR code is that they make accessing information through a mobile device easy because they remove the need to type anything in on a touch screen or tiny keypad; and as with all sales and marketing activities, the easier it is to engage, the more engagement you will get.

Phone number QR: share a phone number. Scanning this type of QR code will prompt your customer to give you a call (or store the number for later). Perhaps a customer service number or a help line:– a great way to...

10 QR code marketing best practices
November 18th, 2015 9:36 pm

Since we launched QRzing.com we have seen the good, the bad and the ugly as far as QR codes are concerned. Here are 10 of our top tips to help you achieve QR code marketing success.

  1. Have a very clear “call to action”; a solitary QR code in the corner of a poster is not going to attract attention. This is marketing right? Sell it to ‘em... make your customers want to scan your QR code and tell them what they will get in return. “Scan now to get 40% off your next purchase” or “Scan here to download the xyz app” is the type of message you should be aiming for.
  2. Offer as much value through your QR code as possible; reward your customers for making the effort to take their mobile out of their pocket and scan your code. Don’t just pass on a link to your website; give them instant access to great offers and they’ll scan your codes again and again.
  3. Make sure your landing pages are mobile optimised; QR codes are a “mobile thing”, they are only every going to be s...
